Shri Govind Devji Gems

Heera

Diamond, the gemstone of Shukra

Heera is the gemstone of Shukra, or Venus, and the hardest natural material known. Because a well made diamond of ritual size is expensive, Vedic practice has long accepted two substitutes for the same planetary purpose: white sapphire and opal. Both are stones we stock, and both are sold as what they are rather than as diamond.

In Vedic tradition Heera is worn to strengthen Venus, and is associated with beauty, artistry and harmony in relationships.

What to check before you pay

For a diamond, insist on a grading report from a recognised laboratory covering carat, colour, clarity and cut, and check the girdle inscription against the report number. If you are buying white sapphire or opal as a Venus stone, make sure the invoice and the certificate both name the actual material. A white sapphire billed as Heera is a red flag.
