Where can I buy certified natural gemstones in Jaipur?
Shri Govind Devji Gems trades from Shop No 104 Pitaliyon Ka Rasta, Johari Bazar, Jaipur 302003, in the Johari Bazaar gemstone market. The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 11 AM to 8 PM IST and closed on Sundays. Stones can be viewed in person or discussed on WhatsApp at +91 9314434825. Every stone is sold as a loose gemstone with its treatment stated in writing.
What does unheated and untreated actually mean?
An unheated stone has never been put through the furnace treatment that is used across the trade to deepen or clarify colour. Untreated means no filling, diffusion, dyeing or irradiation either. Unheated material is far scarcer than heated material, so it costs considerably more, which is exactly why the treatment should be written on the invoice and confirmed by a laboratory report rather than described verbally.
Which laboratories certify your gemstones?
Stones in our collection are graded by IGI (International Gemological Institute) and IIGJ (Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery). Where a stone is listed without a named laboratory, it has not yet been submitted for a report, and we say so on the product page rather than implying a certificate exists. Any stone can be sent for certification before purchase on request.
How do I check that a gemstone certificate is genuine?
Four checks cover most of it. Confirm the report number on the laboratory's own website rather than trusting the printed copy. Check that the carat weight and measurements on the report match the stone in front of you. Read the treatment line, and treat a blank or missing treatment field as a red flag. Finally, make sure the laboratory named is one you can independently look up, since some reports are issued by bodies with no verifiable standing.
Which Navratna stone should I wear?
That depends on your birth chart, and it is a question for a qualified astrologer rather than for a gem dealer. What we can do is supply the correct stone once the recommendation is made: the right species, an honest treatment disclosure, the carat weight you were advised to wear, and a laboratory report to back it. The nine Navratna stones are Manikya, Moti, Moonga, Panna, Pukhraj, Heera, Neelam, Gomed and Lehsunia.
Is a cheaper stone from the same photograph the same stone?
Almost never. Two stones of identical species and carat weight can differ many times over in price on colour saturation, clarity, cut quality, origin and, above all, treatment. A heated Ceylon sapphire and an unheated one of the same size are different products at different prices. If a quoted price looks far below the market, the difference is usually treatment or species substitution rather than a better deal.
Who selects the stones?
The collection is selected by Kamal Kishore Agarwal, who holds a Diploma in Gem Identification from the Gem Testing Laboratory in Jaipur (2007) and a Diploma in Gemmology with Merit from Gem-A in the United Kingdom (2008). The business was founded in 2008 and is a registered Associate member of the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

Stones can be photographed and video called before you commit, and despatch is arranged case by case. GJEPC Associate membership covers the documentation required for export.
